1. Information We Collect

We collect the following information when you use Lawyer ToDo:

  • Account information: email address, display name, and a securely hashed password.
  • Application data: clients, matters, tasks, issues, issue updates, people, and time entries that you create within the app.
  • Payment information: processed and stored exclusively by Stripe. We do not store credit card numbers or bank account details.
  • Usage data: basic server logs for security and debugging purposes (IP addresses, request timestamps).

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information solely to:

  • Provide, maintain, and improve the Lawyer ToDo service.
  • Authenticate your identity and secure your account.
  • Process subscription payments through Stripe.
  • Sync data between the Lawyer ToDo iPhone app and web app.
  • Communicate service-related announcements (e.g., maintenance, security alerts).

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes.

3. Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored in a managed PostgreSQL database with encryption at rest (AES-256) and in transit (TLS 1.2+). Passwords are hashed using bcrypt. Our infrastructure is hosted on Vercel with automated backups and enterprise-grade security. For more details, see our Security page.

4. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party service:

  • Stripe — for payment processing. Stripe's privacy policy is available at stripe.com/privacy.

We do not use third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services.

5. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, all associated data is permanently removed from our systems. Soft-deleted records (items you delete within the app) are retained to support sync functionality but are not visible in the application.

6. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Export your data: Download all of your data in JSON format from Settings at any time.
  • Delete your account: Permanently delete your account and all associated data from Settings.
  • Update your information: Modify your display name and account settings at any time.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by email or through a notice in the application. Your continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
